The Experiences of LGBT Staff & Students in HE – 4th December

    2009 - 11.01

The Experiences of LGBT Staff & Students in HE – 4th December

The College’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Staff Network is holding a special open meeting, to which all staff and students at the College are invited.

The experiences of LGBT staff and students in HE

    Friday 4 December 2009

    1.00-2.30pm (lunch available from 12.45pm)

    Room 1.71, FWB, Waterloo

Speakers: Chris Hall, Senior Policy Adviser, Equality Challenge Unit (ECU)

    Brent Chamberlain, Workplace Programmes, Stonewall

A recent national ECU survey of LGBT staff and students in HE shows unequivocally that while HE provides a positive space for many LGBT students, there is a still a very real need for the sector to review how it provides support for, and addresses discrimination against LGBT staff and students.

At this meeting Chris from ECU will talk through the research findings and recommended next steps and we will hear about organisational best practice in addressing these issues from Brent at Stonewall.  There will be time for questions and discussion including possible next steps at King’s.

    Lunch will be provided.

If you would like to book a place please email: equality@kcl.ac.uk or call 020 7848 3398 by Tuesday 1 December letting them know if you have any special requirements.

The event can also be found on facebook: The Experiences of LGBT Staff & Students in HE
