LGBT Sports
Rugby player Gareth Thomas, Swedish football player Anton Hysen and Stonewall’s championing of sport all highlight how far UK sport has come for LGBT community in recent years. But at King’s LGBT we believe there is still much work to do in this area! This year we are offering for all King’s students the chance to get involved with our newly started Tennis programme as well as any of the listed organisations below:
King’s LGBT Tennis Club
Players of all abilities are welcome, from the beginner to the pro. It’s free to come along and no membership required!
When: Every second Wednesday 1-2pm, dates TBC
Where: Meet at the Cafe in New Hunts House, Guy’s Campus at 1pm on 28th September.
With thanks to support from the Terrence Higgins Trust we can provide courts, tennis rackets and balls all free of charge. Boxing:
Pink Collar Boxing, www.pinkcollarboxing.com , aims to help you build your body up and improve your cardio vascular muscles whilst learning how to defend yourself in a safe and comfortable environment.
Group classes, run by a personal trainer, are held every Monday at 7.20 at the Body Studio

Football:
There are a growing number of gay-friendly football teams across London but Stonewall FC (stonewallfc.com) are one of the most established gay football club with three teams. They aim to cater for all levels and to provide a safe and competitive environment for gay (and straight) fooball players.

Swimming
Out To Swim is a swimming, water polo and synchro club for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, trans people and their friends. London swimmers train seven days a week with hour long coached sessions at six venues including pools in the West End, Victoria and London Bridge. Woman only sessions take place on Thursdays.
The first three sessions (five for water polo) are free so it’s worth giving this a go! After that there are excellent deals for students! For more information visit: http://www.outtoswim.org
Martial Arts
ISHIGAKI is a martial arts club for gay and gay-friendly people with sessions occurring in Central, East and South London. The first session is free with all abilities welcomed. Beginners are actively encouraged to come along to try it out.

4playsquash provides free coaching lessons for different ages, genders and abilities as well as courts for practice sessions. More info to follow.
